Last Weekend of June

Well I was all set to blog about our weekend up in Lewiston, along with a few pictures from Aberdeen, but I had an unfortunate computer mishap, most likely (an unintentional) operator error. Sad day... :'(   So now this will be just a few pictures from before Lewiston. I will do a Lewiston post - later...

So on Friday the 24th Tiffani & I went down to Aberdeen. We had an appointment at ISU the following Tuesday, but it was Aberdeen Daze weekend and Tiffani wanted to go to breakfast in the park so we left when she got done babysitting on Friday. Thankfully that was several hours earlier then it was suppose to be so we got to Aberdeen about the time we thought we'd be leaving home. We also had a bike we'd bought for Marcus & Hannah to use when they get to Grandma's house.

The only picture I have from Aberdeen - Tiffani giving the bike a test ride. :)

Tiffani really didn't want me to post that picture of her - not sure why - She looks like she's having fun. So I thought I'd post a "look-a-like" Daddy picture. This is from way back when... '89 or '90 when we had moved back from Phoenix and were living in Harder's house. Les was testing out the John Deere that was in the basement. "Like Daddy, like daughter!"

I did take a few pictures of the parade, but sitting in the shade was more important then getting any pictures on Saturday! We did walk along the newly paved green belt (Aberdeen Gem Trail). I do wish I had my camera with me then, but maybe next time. I also borrowed Ernie's bike, Tiffani rode A. Avy's and A. Avy rode Dad's bike and we biked the trail and along some country roads. Oh how nice that would be to have nice quiet, not-so-busy country roads to bike ride on here. It was a wonderful bike ride and the weather was just right, too.

Tuesday we headed to Pocatello and we got to eat lunch with Carla. That was such a nice treat - a little rushed because we were a little late and then had our appt. at ISU, but it was nice just the same. Then it was off for the tour. Tiffani met the Chef of the Culinary Arts program and got to tour that huge kitchen. Then we got a campus tour, although everything Tiffani would be doing is pretty much with in the Culinary Art building. And then a tour of the living options. She was excited to learn freshman are allowed in to the newest building that is more like an apartment then just a dorm room. It is equipped with a kitchen (minus a stove) and has its own washer & dryer, too. It was in the 90's as we were walking all over campus so when we finished we just HAD to go to Tastee Treat and get a yummy ice cream cone. And then it was time to head for home.

We went as far as Twin and stopped to fuel up both the car and us! There was lots of construction at the exit so instead of heading back out that way I sent Les a text and asked if I took Pole Line Road beside Costco out, where would I end up. His response was it turns into Highway 30 and takes you to Bliss. Ok, so off we went following highway 30 signs which led us to signs that said Jackpot... Umm, not going that far South, sorry! I needed to go WEST! So we turned around and got back to where we were suppose to be... Just looked at the map and realized where I went wrong... I turned, following hwy 30 signs, but then missed the exit. Where if I would have stayed on Pole Line it would have "turned into" hwy 30, but I followed the signs... Aww well, now I know! The nice thing about taking that way though is we got to go past 1000 Springs again. Last time we did that was in April of 2009 when we went to Shoshone Falls and decided to take the scenic way home and discovered the Springs. The girls were exhausted and didn't get out of the car to check them out. So this time I stopped with Tiffani so she could see the ones you can see from the campgrounds.

Talking to Les about it & he in turn was talking about it with a guy at work and discovered that you can take a tour boat ride to see the many other springs that you can't see from the road. I did a little research on it and found where & when the tours are offered. We would really like to do that this summer sometime. And another option is to take our boat and the tent and camp out at the 1000 Springs Resort. Each camp site has a dock for a boat so it would be really cool to do that, too. (Not big on sleeping in a tent, but a night wouldn't be bad...) But, the tour on a 52' Catamaran Cruiser is a 2 hour, 12 mile round trip cruise. I think this would be very fun to do.

Oh yes, that cruise would be fun. I have been on catamaran's and they are a good way to go. I didn't realize (or forgot, who knows!) that you took that way home, but I do remember you talking about construction. Your pictures are pretty. I like that drive. I would suggest you do that cruise when there is lots of water flowing. There are more springs showing in your pictures than when we last saw them! Doing the tent and boat would be fun - yes, for one night!
