Women's Fitness Celebration

This morning we got up early for a Saturday morning and headed to downtown Boise to participate in the St. Luke's Women's Fitness Celebration. Start time was 8:30 & Les dropped us girls off at about 8. We ended up close to the front, which was good! There was so-o-o many people! Over 12,000 women running/walking/strolling!!

I need to thank Shauntel (my boss) for suggesting that all of us in the classroom do this otherwise I probably wouldn't have done it. After all we've lived here for 15 years and this is the first time I've done the walk. It's been going on for 17 years (I think...). Anyway, a teacher at the middle school also had a group going for the Kuna School District. Sept 11th was the deadline to sign up on-line & we all talked about it alot but never did anything about. The girls really wanted to do it with me, so I wanted to sign us all up anyway. Well, I spaced it! Woke up at 12:30 AM on the 12th and went "Oh no!!" Thankfully, the site you register through was on Pacific time and I was able to get us registered at 11:44pm on the 11th!!! Whew! I could have still registered us all downtown, but it would have cost a few bucks more.

There are different waves to sign up for: competitive run, fitness walk (both timed) two waves for non-competitive run or walk (must be the most popular) and a family/stroller/wheelchairs. We did the non-competitive walk, timed it ourselves, and did it in an hour & 4 minutes. Not too bad - Brianna & I can usually walk a mile in 15-18 min., but that is just us on the sidewalk, not 1,000's of other women around us all walking different paces! We had fun, it was a great walk and a beautiful morning for it. I guess last year it was pouring rain the morning of the walk!

Homecoming 2009

Colorguard's first performance in their costumes was tonight at the game. Tabbi, Cassie & Tori came over after the game Friday night & spent the night. We had Les's pancakes for breakfast & then the girls went shopping & got ready to go to the Homecoming Dance together on Saturday.

Time with the horses (9/13/09)

We went to New Plymouth to visit & Brianna really wanted to ride Stiltz. She gave him a bath first & then Moki had a turn, too. Grandma J also gave Brianna a lesson in training a horse. Brianna had so much fun. While she was practicing by herself we all come inside. We looked out the window later, & Brianna had walked Stiltz up towards the house & was standing there looking very forlornly into the window. She was waiting to go on a ride with Grandpa Ron. Les & I picked some grapes to have with dinner. Mmmm, very good! Tiffani didn't want her picture taken (or course!) but I got her just before we left, holding her favorite cat.

One more...

Three posts in one day... It's a record that won't be broken soon I'm sure!

Last Friday, the girls had their first performance at the home football game. I was home with a major headache & did try to go with Les when he got home from work, but he wouldn't let me because I looked miserable (I guess...) ;-) Anyway - so there are no pictures yet. Although they just had a little make-up & crazy hair for the first performance... So I will try to get some good ones tomorrow night in full costume & make up. But here is a sneak peek - Tiffani was practicing some flag work in the front yard a few days ago.

Brianna's 18!

Brianna's birthday was Sunday (6th) and she HAD to go to work for inservice training. I say had to because the make up training was the following Saturday and she couldn't do that because she was taking her ACT! Needless to say she had a busy birthday weekend. So we finally went out to dinner Monday night (after she got off work). Her pick was Fuddruckers. Yum!! Some of the best burgers you'll ever have. If I would have thought of it I would taken a picture of Tiffani's. That girl knows how to build a burger!!! Happy Birthday Brianna!

Labor Day Adventures

Well, as much as we all like the tree picture on the blog with our "characters" in it, there was too much house(s) and not enough trees for a "Four Hundred Acre" wood! So after eating dinner out we went on our own little adventure to get a better "wood" picture. We just went down by Indian Creek & had great fun finding the perfect branch. They were all determined to find the best branch over the water, I threatened them all because I didn't want to be chasing our characters down the river. They got their way... Tigger, Pooh, Eeyore & Piglet sitting precariously over the river... Thankfully I didn't have to come up with a consequence since nobody got wet! :-) Here's some pictures of our fun... When Les walked out on the branch, it was above water - not when they all got out there though! Thankfully nobody fell in - it would have been a cold ride home! Although Les did manage to get a foot, tennis shoe & all, soaked.

Back In Time II - A few random photos

My snowmen boxes & tin I purchased on our little getaway trip to McCall. My "big" purchase ($30 total) of our vacation. But snowmen things are my weakness... End of July, hot, and I'm buying snowmen stuff! The little shop had a whole room full of Christmas/Snowmen things.

Tiffani made Cake Balls for a bake sale. Yummy! Then we dipped pretzels in the extra chocolate. Yummy, again! Those were a lot of fun to make (& eat). Thanks Heather H. for the idea!

Tiffani has also made a couple candy bouquets as birthday gifts for her friends. The first one some how "escaped" the house without being photographed. It was a lollipop bouquet made in a plastic milkshake glass. This "movie night" candy bouquet was for her best friend. Tiffani is also taking a Floral Design class this semester and the final in there is to make a candy bouquet!

Look Mom! The Martha Washington Geranium (?) you gave me has actually survived AND has had several blooms on it this summer! Woohoo! There were actually 5 clusters of blossoms when I took this picture.

9/1/09

This past Saturday we went to the Starlight Mountain Theater in Crouch. We went to see "7 Brides for 7 Brothers", but saw a lightning storm that was just as amazing. WOW! No pictures of either... Not allowed to take pictures of the show & didn't really try to capture any lightning ones. It was really awesome to see driving home at 10:30pm in pitch darkness & then the lightning comes and lights up the roadway, mountains & trees. And the rain was coming down so hard. It was incredible.

Got a bit ahead of myself there though... We headed up there later in the afternoon & met the rest of the group for a spaghetti dinner. A couple that went rented a condo for the night & so we met there to eat. Had yummy spaghetti with homemade sauce. It was so good. We had garlic bread too, and would have had salad... but its contributor arrived a bit late! By the time we'd eaten dinner we all had to head out to the show. So we decided to come back to the condo after the show to have dessert (our contribution). I made two pans of the Stiped Delight pudding dessert & I think we ate 1 1/2 of them. There was 16 at dinner & 13 for the show (& only 11 ate dessert).

About 1/2 way through the show it started raining, and then pouring. I don't think the picture really shows how hard it was coming down. But they finally stopped the show & invited everyone to go into the rooms on the side of the stage. Most went, but we stayed put as we had the overhang from the lighting booth above us. So we sat & waited it out. When it finally slowed & then stopped the cast (the women!)went out on stage with brooms sweeping the water off. It was amazing how much water accumulated on the stage. They passed out garbage bags to sit on since the wood benches were now soaked & passed towels down the row to help dry things off. Finally the show started up again for about 10 minutes & then it was time for the "regularly scheduled" intermission.

The show went on, but it started raining again towards the end. And probably continued the rest of the night! We'll have to ask the campers who stayed up there from our group instead of driving home. I'm so glad we had a dog at home to take care of, I would not have wanted to camp out in that storm! I think the whole group stayed somewhere (condo, camping) except for us & we took Travis home as well. Anyway, it was a fun night. Next time I think I'd like to go earlier to explore a bit and maybe camp if the weather is better! Which I guess means next summer.
