Random Post...

Les & I have bought a few flowers & plants for our house, but it just isn't my thing and things don't seem too last very long!! My wonderful idea of the purple petunia's didn't last because even though the barrel was sealed the "seams" weren't & the soil never stayed wet enough. By the end of July the flowers were dead! We are going to attempt it again next year, but line the barrel with plastic on the sides (inside) so the water won't drain too fast. Hopefully that will work. The "before they died" picture... :)

We also bought a small bleeding heart, Brianna has been wanting one for a long time. It was looking pretty good for awhile this summer, but I won't even take a picture of it now. It would be a very sad picture!!

One plant we did get this summer was a burning bush. It was a very beautiful green and was a pretty full bush. Loved it! AND it has survived - so far - (must be really easy to take care of?...). Here is a picture of it just after we planted it in the first part of June. And one taken today. It's beautiful.

ISU Marching Festival

On Saturday, the 10th, the Kuna Marching Band performed at the ISU Marching Band Invitational. The girls rode the bus to Pocatello and Les & I went in the pick-up and pulled the band trailer. There were high wind warnings/alerts for Friday so I was a little worried about the trip, but thankfully we had no problems. There were a few gusts between Glenns Ferry and Twin that we felt, but nothing too bad. I also have a wonderful husband for a driver so that helps. :) We spent the night at the Holiday Inn in Pocatello and they served us breakfast (biscuits, hash browns, eggs & sausage, and orange juice & coffee). Then it was off to the show. We got there about 9:30 and Kuna performed at 1:30. The awards show was at 4:30. That's a long time to sit in bleachers! But it was entertaining & it's hard to get bored when there is a new band with new songs every 15 min. to watch. I did bring a book to read, but never opened it. We headed home after the awards. The buses stopped in Pocatello to eat dinner before heading home. Les & I went to Am. Falls & meet Mom, Dad & A. Avy for dinner. (I think we got the better end of the deal!) We all made it back to Kuna High just after 10pm. What a long, quick weekend that was!

Kuna was in the 3A group (this competition goes by band size, not school size). There were 5 schools in the group and Kuna placed 3rd! That was/is pretty awesome.

Next competition is this Saturday at Vallivue, Monday at Ontario, and Saturday at BSU for DIII. Come watch - it is fun! The band will also perform at the last home football game on the 30th.
