Boating

Last night we met Les after work and took the boat out for a few hours. It was a beautiful evening. It was 89 degrees when we pulled out of the storage unit with the boat. Made for a very comfortable boat ride. Tiffani did jump in and the water was cold and she was chattering when she finally got back into the boat. Les took his turn, too. I stayed warm and dry in the boat. :) Les did finally get me to drive the boat - 1st time for everything! - so he could ski. That went... well, I guess. The first time up he was going along just fine & I kind of freaked out a bit as the boat started "jumping waves" and we were airborne (or so it seemed, really!). I stopped real quick and Les went in real quick! (He did tell me the front of the boat was coming out of the water pretty good!) Yes, I tried again and this time around we went until he couldn't go anymore & finally just dropped the rope. That was pretty fun. We packed a little picnic and planned on eating somewhere at one of the docks. Just ended up at the dock for the boat ramp because all the others had boats/people at them all ready. By the time you get the boat loaded up and put back in the storage unit and get home, it makes for a pretty late night, but well worth it.

6/21/11 - almost 10 days later, a lot less beach left. We had hoped to eat our picnic there, but everyone else had the same idea!

The first time out we went under the High Bridge and followed Highway 21 north up the river. Yesterday we went east to Anderson Dam.

Tiffani taking the plunge! It looks like she's standing on the edge of the boat, but if you make the picture bigger you can see her feet just barely in the water - looks like she's standing on the water!

Swimming to the back of the boat.

As soon as we got to the dock to eat our dinner, this pair of ducks decided to join us. They stayed there the entire time we were eating.

Proof - I was really, actually driving the boat!

While Tiffani was chillin' in the setting sun.

Tiffani took this picture - She loves shots with the suns rays in them.
It was a great evening!

Meridian Speedway

Well, last week I kind of posted out of order (Sunday's boating adventure before Saturday events). Not a huge deal - not a lot happened and only a few pictures to show for it, but it was a huge deal none the less! Last Saturday night we went to Meridian Speedway. We had 6 free tickets (Courtesy of Steve (Flat Stanley) from the Scuba night) and so we kind of talked Tiffani into going. She hasn't wanted to go in the past because it is so very loud! She was willing to give it a try and had a wonderful time. And is willing to go again! (We have a couple more nights from Steve and then we got 3 tickets at the Meridian Dairy Days Parade. Those were actually handed to the couple in front of us and they couldn't use them so gave them to Les. We've certainly been blessed with Speedway Tickets this summer! Good thing Tiffani is willing to go.)
Happy to be there! :)

The Legends

Standing by Cupcake's Car

"Cupcake"

Tiffani really liked the Legends. They are pretty cool cars. Then there was this one guy who kept being referred to by his nickname "Cupcake". So we were kind of cheering him on - I think he placed way down the line the first time out, but he did win the 2nd time out. Anyway, after the races were over Les and Tiffani went down to the pits. She was hoping to see the brightly colored 02 Legends car but it had already been put away. But she did get a picture next to "Cupcake's" car & trophy. That was pretty cool! Also found out that Shelby got his nickname because he used to be a baker at Albertson's. Overall a very night and we are looking forward to the next one. I think the tickets we got at the parade are for July 9th and the other ones are for over Labor Day weekend and Brianna is going to come down for those - an extra bonus for us!

Meet "Bunny Swap"

Well that is only half its name. We are now 50/50 owners of a boat with Matt & family.  The person we bought the boat from is big into 4H and was willing to take some bunnies from Adsitt's that the boys were no longer interested in. The boat was picked up and the bunnies dropped off on the same day so the boys named the boat "Bunny Swap". We are still trying to think of a name for "our half". ;)

We took the boat out Sunday afternoon. It was a nice day for it, but we had just an hour or so to play before coming back home to go to the Shakespeare Play. It was a good time to just get the feel of it check out the where we could go. We went up highway 21 across the High Bridge and put in at Spring Shores.

The view from the parking lot.

Beach, picnic area across the water.

Our Captain

The High Bridge - in the process of getting repaired so it is one lane. We cross that and then turn right to come down to the docks.

Hidden Treasure - Little waterfall

Hidden Treasure - another little picnic area tucked back aways.
Needs some more water to get to it though.

Still pretty low - but it's gone up a lot in a month. The last picture on the 5/15 post is this same rocky beach from the road. At least the bottom corner of the dock is touching the water now.

Tiffani getting her first lesson on driving a boat.

Hmmm - 35 mph hairdo.

This weekend we should have time to take the boat out a little longer and Tiffani will try out the knee board and maybe do a little swimming. :)

Another of Tiffani's creations

I'm so glad I can finally post the picture of the lamp Tiffani made in Pottery this year. It's been done and sitting in the house, moved to a corner in her closet one day when we thought Gpa Ron was coming over, for over a month now I think. But I wasn't allowed to post pictures so there would be no chance Gpa Ron would see it. She really wanted to give it to him, but didn't want to wait until his birthday (Oct.) or Christmas and Grandparents Day had passed already... So we went searching for a reason (It couldn't be "just because") to celebrate and give Gpa Ron his new lamp. We looked up all the National Holidays for the month of June and picked... National Drive In Movie Day (It's actually on the 6th, but no drive-in's are open on Mondays). Being that the lamp was popcorn and movies & popcorn, especially Gpa's popcorn, go together, Tiffani decided we'd plan a drive-in movie night and she'd give the lamp to him then. It was a perfect surprise and Gpa Ron loved it.
I thought we should have covered a lamp shade with some fabric that had popcorn all over it, but Tiffani wanted to give it too him just as she made it - so she did!

The sunset was beautiful, too. But I couldn't zoom in on it with my phone camera.

Just so you know - you should have all gone barefoot on the 1st, running on the 2nd and then treated yourself to donuts on the 3rd & 4th... But if you missed all that, by all means play at work all day while eating fudge since it's National Fudge Day and Recess at Work Day on the 16th. I'm sure if there is something you'd like to celebrate there has been a day set aside for it somewhere! (brownielocks.com is where Tiffani finds all her cool things to celebrate.)
