Tractors and sunsets

On the 30th of September, Linder Farms was hosting a Crimson Point Elem. night through our PTA. The PTA was looking for teachers to drive the tractor for the barrel train. I volunteered Les. :) (Husband of a teacher, close enough right!?) He agreed - I think he misses the farming life just a tiny bit and the month or so he worked at Linder Farms a few years ago during the fall, he really enjoyed. So a couple hours this one night was great. Besides it's a good thing he wanted to otherwise our PTA president would have been the only driver there!! So here's just a few pictures from that night. I was hoping to get some pictures for the school, but it was a very slow night... So I got lots of sunset pictures instead! Enjoy.

Projects

A few weekends ago we started several projects. First one was to clean the garage and in the process 3 other projects were finally given life! We had moved the coat rack off the back porch so Simba's kennel could have a home on the back porch instead of in the dining room. The coat rack just sat in the garage collecting things because I really didn't want to get rid of it. Then I had the brilliant idea (if I can say so) to use the back of it as the ski rack that Les had been wanting to build. He agreed, and we moved it to the side of the garage where he still plans to build shelves to hold the other ski supplies (ski pant, helmets, goggles, gloves, etc.) in totes. So that project is a work in progress still - but the ski rack is built and the skis (& boots) are off the garage floor.



The next project was Tiffani's bed frame that has been sitting in the garage since we moved 2 years ago! It had needed a few repairs, the move was a little rough on it. In order to work in the shop the bed needed finished and moved upstairs. So the next step was to sand it down after it had been repaired, and paint it. Well the sanding happened one weekend, we went to Lewiston the next weekend, painted it the following weekend and finally just got it moved upstairs last night. But, while that painting was going on we figured we paint the bedroom too. So we (mostly Les) also painted a half of a wall in Tiffani's room and put up bead board. So her room/project is closest to being done, but she wants to paint blue circles on her walls that didn't get the blue paint. :) And no picture of her completed bed yet... Maybe soon I'll make a "completed projects" page.



So after the bed was sanded, Les hung the track up for a curtain that will (when completed) provide a little protection from the shop and the other side of the garage & hopefully keep the sawdust to a minimum on the garage side. So when the curtains are hung, the shop should be ready for any number of projects that any of us may think of. (Umm - bookshelves are next I hope!) The curtain project is now "in my hands". Gotta sew the strip on that holds the curtain hooks, hem it, then hang it - well that part will be Les's job. Maybe I should be doing that instead of updating the blog??


Oh, I'm also crocheting an edging on a baby blanket for a baby shower gift. No pictures of that project yet either, but I gotta get it done by Saturday afternoon, so I really need to say goodbye to the computer for awhile!!

Oh - not a project - but a few last pictures I want to share with you:


About a month ago because of the weather we had several fires start around the Boise area. A few out here in Kuna. One was very close to home, less then a mile. I was watching the news to see what was happening with the horrible winds and the power went out. I went outside and there was this huge ball of smoke that you could see over the roof tops. The top picture was taken with my phone so it's not the best. It would disappear and then there'd be a huge orange glow in the sky and then the smoke again. That happened several times. One of our neighbors went out to see what was going on and discovered that the wheat field (already harvested) was on fire on the corner of Hubbard & Meridian Rd. It was just Tiffani and I at home (Les & Brianna were in Lewiston) and the dogs. Simba was scared and wanted to stay in his kennel. Tessa was more comfortable outside. So we hung out on the neighbors driveway chatting until about 12:30am Sunday morning, waiting to see if we were going to get evacuated. Finally we went in to bed. The power had gone out at about 10:05 Saturday night and was out until 6am Sunday. Apparently a transformer blew and it is what started the fire. Anyway - Tiffani & I slept on the futon and Tessa was right there with us. Simba stayed in his kennel! The bottom pictures are of the field that burned. The fire went right around two houses and that barn. That would have been a scary place to be! Thankfully no one was hurt and the field had already been harvested. Another odd note - the subsivision (not ours) that you can see in the back of the one picture and was closest to the fire did not loose power that night!

A Park in Twin Falls

First, a couple of Tiffani's photography talents... She loves taking pictures of the sun peeking through things. The first picture is through the trees at Ross Park when we were climbing and the second is at the Park in Twin through the railroad tracks.




I put this old picture of Dad sitting in front of a rock (from 1963) in the scrapbook I made. Mom said the picture was taken at Twin Falls Park. Well, a google search of "Twin Falls Park" just took us to the Twin Falls Parks & Rec Dept. off Shoshone Street. Mom remembered walking down a lot of stairs, too. So we checked out what appeared to be a park down & behind the the Parks and Rec building.

This is the path (& apparently someones driveway!) that we walked down to get to the greenbelt path. Doesn't look to steep & no stairs there, but it had a pretty good slope!

We walked a little further, just under the train track. The path kept going, but I don't know to where or how far!

And then through the trees we saw this concrete trough "thingy" that came down from the building. Don't know the significance of it, but Mom remembered walking down to see a building of some sort so just wonder if this may have been it. It was up on the hill across from the creek we were walking beside.

So here's a picture of the picture of Dad by the rock & the rock I took a picture of - looks pretty similar though taken at different angles. I'd say it could be the place Mom & Dad were at 40+ years ago!!

It'd be fun to explore the greenbelt a little more, but we stopped on our way home last weekend & it was 97 degrees & the path was in the sun, so we didn't spend too much time down there. We also never came across the picnic area Mom remembered, but like I said that path continues on. ...So Mom, does any of it look familiar? :)

Kids

Saturday night Brianna and Tiffani took the cousins to the school to play. Les & I decided to go to & take the dogs along for a little walk. I think the older cousins (& uncle Les) had as much fun as the younger cousins. :)

But first a picture of Hannah cuddling with Tiffani. I'm not sure who Hannah was more excited was back at Grandma's - Tiffani or the dogs. (Probably both!)

You could find Hannah giving those dogs loves any chance she got!

Hannah got to walk Simba back from the school.



Caleb really want to take Simba for a walk too, so he got to - in the house. :) And Simba went to his favorite spot in the house - looking out Grandma's front window.

Marcus mastered climbing to the top of the spiral ladder(?) and wanted proof! There's your picture, Marcus.

Marcus loved climbing the pole, just like a monkey. He was pretty quick on it.

Caleb was making the rounds, climbing the stairs, going down the slide, again & again. Les sat at the top of the slide, wondering what Caleb would do. He got to the top of the stairs, saw Les and just stood there contemplating it. It took him a minute to decided it was worth it and he walked right over there, up past Les like he wasn't even there and went down the slide. It was pretty cute.

Two short weekends with the cousins wasn't much, but that little bit of time is so very worth it. So thankful for the little snippets of time we have together.
